A Grassroots Movement
for Every Child
What began as a small, passionate group of individuals determined to make a difference has grown into a thriving grassroots movement rooted in compassion, education, and community. Josh Welfare Society – formerly known as Shri Shaay Society – was established in Dehradun with one clear purpose: to ensure that no child living in poverty is denied the right to learn, grow, and be cared for.
With years of experience, we work to break the cycle of poverty by offering education, care, and opportunities for growth. Our approach is child-centred—children are the protagonists of change, while we act as catalysts to support their journey. Through innovative learning centres across Dehradun, we provide underprivileged children with a wholesome curriculum designed to build confidence, independence, and life skills.
Currently, we run projects such as Rainbow, Helping Hands, Umang, Kaushal, Pulse, and Harsh, supporting children from families of daily wage earners, rag pickers, housemaids, and labourers. Many of these children are either out of school or lagging academically, and we help them catch up, provide necessary stationery, and facilitate school admissions where needed. Our qualified teaching staff ensures quality learning, while our free health camps and hygiene awareness programs extend support to families as well. At Josh Welfare Society, we envision a stronger India where every child, regardless of background, can learn, grow, and thrive.
By touching lives and opening doors of opportunity, we aim to transform not just individual futures, but society as a whole.
“No child chooses a life on the streets — it is circumstance, not choice, that places them there. We are here to change those circumstances.”
